HVAC/R Trade School Director
HP (Unlock Human Potential) is a federally funded, military- and veteran-focused transition and upskilling institution. After graduating over 3,000 students from its Human Performance programs, UHP is now expanding into the industrial trades. The goal is to build the most advanced trade training environment in the country — combining hands-on instruction with immersive VR, simulation, and AI-assisted learning — to accelerate the development of the next generation of skilled American trades professionals.
We are seeking a Founding Director for our HVACR School to design, launch, and lead a national model for modernized workforce training. This is a high-impact role for a senior HVACR leader who wants to shape the future of skilled trades education.
What You’ll Do
Design, develop, and launch a comprehensive HVACR training program from the ground up
Build curriculum aligned with industry standards, codes, and workforce demands
Recruit, train, and mentor a team of instructors
Create hands-on labs and immersive learning environments that incorporate simulation, VR/AR, and AI-assisted learning
Establish program goals, learning outcomes, and performance metrics
Oversee accreditation, credentialing, and compliance requirements
Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Build relationships with contractors, manufacturers, and industry partners
Support workforce pipelines, apprenticeship pathways, and job placement initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
10+ years of experience in the HVACR trade
Leadership experience in training, workforce development, or technical education
EPA Section 608 certification
Strong knowledge of HVACR codes, safety standards, and industry practices
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop programs, and manage operations
Preferred:
NCCER Certified Instructor (HVACR)
Experience designing or scaling HVACR training or apprenticeship programs
Experience using simulation, VR/AR, or other digital learning platforms
Interest in innovating trade education through AI-assisted or immersive learning tools
